#25 - Back home!

Vol. 25

Thank you all.

Dad is back at home recovering. My sister, who is a nurse in England, flew down and so is able to look after him and Mom as well.

This Sunday, tomorrow, I will be going with my brother and his family to scatter Carmen's ashes at her bequest in the ocean.

Thank you all for your emails and prayers and words of encouragement.

Prayer request: For me to be open to God's ways to reflect His love to my family here in Orlando (I just want to love them up!).

Praise: My brother contacted a cousin about 3 hours away from here who works with an ophthalmologist and I got a free eye checkup. I was able to talk about His work in Cambodia to the doctor. I want to be able to look each student/kid in the eye and tell each of them how precious they are, and how sweet and awesome it is to be there to be part of His plan as His teacher.
I am getting pumped to be there.

#24 - God Continues To Show His Presence

Vol. 24

Thank you all for your prayers.

Update on my Dad: He had the pace maker operation on Monday. That surgery went well but my brother noticed that my father was in pain and having difficulty breathing, so he asked the doctors to investigate. Apparently, they had punctured his lung so he had to go back in. He is now resting comfortably at the hospital, weak, but recovering nicely.

Praise report: Because of your prayers, my brother, Vish, was able to see the condition my Dad was in after the operation and immediately advocated on behalf of my Dad. The nurses and care staff responded immediately and were 'angels'.

Prayer request: For Dad to continue to recover without complications, and for my Mom's health. It is not easy going to the hospital for hours each day.

Thank you also for your continued prayers as I spend time with my brother and my niece and nephew. I covet your prayers for His wisdom and words as I also meet and comfort my sister-in-law's family as well. This Sunday we will spread my sister-in-law's ashes in the sea as per her request. Can you please pray as He leads you?

Last Sunday at church here, the message was themed “Not a Fan: Follow Me”. The premise was to be a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ as opposed to one who will fall away when the going gets tough; about listening to His call to follow and be faithful, and according to Luke 9:23, to take up His cross. The song ‘O Master Let Me Walk With Thee’ followed this. This was an apt message for me, cementing my call to be at Place of Rescue in Cambodia.

Please let me know how I can pray for any of you. This is a partnership after all!

#23 - Thankful for His Provision

Vol. 23

Thank you for your prayers.
We just got word that Dad will have the pacemaker operation on Monday morning. Yes, I know surgeries were only on Fridays but because of the backlog and of course your prayers, they are doing the surgeries everyday next week! In addition, the Lord has gone before us, and Heartbeat International, the NGO which provides the funding, has agreed to fund the cost of the pacemaker etc..

Update on beach chair:
Remember how I had to take my beach chair for my Mom and I to sit on as we waited for 4-5 hours at the hospital? Well, the Customer Relations department sent a photographer when I was there to show the administration that the Medical Ward was the only ward without a waiting room and that it was disgraceful that the caregivers had no place to sit and wait! So pictures of my Mom and I went out (I had brought a carry-on and was sitting on that while my Mom was on the beach chair), and apparently they are going to open up a room (which had been locked with chairs etc.) for the visitors! Yay!

Again, I am humbled by His grace. My cousins, with whom I had not been in contact for over 4 years or so, heard of my sister-in-law's tragic death, and felt led by God to buy me a ticket to go to Orlando to be with my big brother and his kids. So yes, you saw me in Toronto on Saturday, the day I flew back from Trinidad, and on Wednesday I flew here. I will be here until the 29th of September, then I fly back to Toronto.

I have been in touch with Place of Rescue in Cambodia as well as the board in Canada. We are looking at the middle of October if all goes well with the support raising. My students have Skyped me and I am looking forward to being with them again.

Prayer requests: This has been a summer filled with faith testing/building experiences.

Pray that I would learn the lessons He requires of me. I cannot help but think that whatever I am learning here is going to be used in the upcoming year in Cambodia.

Pray that I would continue to depend upon Him for every step. My faith has grown deeper yet simpler. His Word has become more precious to me than ever. You, my family and friends, have become sweeter to me.

Pray that I would be His heart, His arms and His voice here in Orlando.

#22 - Prayer request

Vol. 22

Thank you to all for your prayers and support.
I wish I could answer each back but my laptop is still down!! My Dad is still in the hospital and we are meeting with the social worker and the organization of Heartbeat.

Please pray for His favour with them as we meet today and for a date for Dad's operation. There is a backlog.

We have had tragic news with the sudden death of Carmen, my sister-in-law in Florida. Please pray for my brother, Kris and his kids, Christian and Gabriela (21 and 20). My brother was just here. We are all trying to be supportive here with my parents in Trinidad as well as there in Florida.

Praise news: for the support given to our family; we are truly humbled and grateful. I am truly seeing Him face to face through you and His Word.

This is a short update. Thank you.
