Vol. 38
It was humbling
to be treated like a princess.
The fellowship
and fun given by the Lobergs was timed just right. One friend had said to me
that I could go ‘crazy and deep’ when Ian and Ramona came to visit, and she was
right! I cannot tell you how encouraged I was by their presence, a great
reminder of my community at Rexdale!
I was sitting in
the tuk tuk waiting for the driver to get ice for my trek back to Place of
Rescue when another tuk tuk driver approached and noted that I return to the
city on the weekends.
He asked why and
the first thing that came to mind was, “I
come to go to church!”
He asked, “Do you believe in the Bible? Do you believe
what it says? Do you listen to the preacher?”
He was just about
to quote the one verse he knew from the Bible when my tuk tuk driver returned
and hustled us off! I did have a quick minute to say, “Yes I believe what is in the Bible, and I believe in the Lord Jesus
Christ.”
I was thinking
about this encounter as I went off, not knowing why I was allowed to meet this
driver but I thought sometimes it is good to shout out “Yes I love God and believe in His Word!” Sometimes it is good to say
that to another person! Saying the words out loud to a stranger gave me comfort
and a challenge! The challenge was, in order to believe, I have to read and
meditate on His Word, to take the time to spend at His feet and not to go
rushing off each day without listening and talking to our Heavenly Father.
John 16: 32: Yet I am not alone for my Father is with me. As I read this verse this morning I thought
of all the cards, eCards, phone calls, emails, Skype calls and prayers which
were made on my behalf for my birthday, and I am so blessed to have you all as
my community. Thank you for reinforcing that I am not alone! And most
importantly you are not alone!
Updates:
Health: I have a parasite right now and I am taking
medication for it; I lost about a pound within a week but am now prayerfully
back on track.
Fridge: Marie gave us her fridge at the house in Bek Chan
(10 minutes away from Place of Rescue), so I now can buy meat etc. and it suits
3 of us (other 2 teachers)!
Staff room: Your prayers were answered. After 4 months of
having no place to rest and eat, we now have a staff room which we are setting
up to suit ourselves; no stove top to heat up food or cook anything, but I
thank Him for small mercies!
Class: I spend time with the younger kids when they play
Khmer games, holding the rope or just cheering them on. It is not the same
building of relationships as with the older youth but a start!
Language training: 4 to 5 hours on a Saturday. This is not ideal since
I am tired from the week and have to be up early on a Saturday, so my brain
stops functioning after 2 hours and I start to respond in Spanish! Who knew I would remember my Spanish!?
Place in city: Not yet. I think this has been the biggest faith
tester so far! Still in suitcases at Lois’ house in city when I go in on
Friday, and I have a suitcase at house in Bek Chan! But He who has a nest for
the sparrow has affirmed He has a nesting place for me!
Dancing with Him
albeit at different pace since we are heading into the hottest season now!
Please let me
know how I can pray with you! Love to hear what is going on in your lives!
Dancing
with Him with a new song,
Love,
Sister Vidya
